Oak Pointe at Barefoot Resort

Oak Pointe is one of only three gated home neighborhoods inside Barefoot Resort, along with Dye Estates and Leatherleaf. For buyers who want a gate between the street and their front door, that narrows a very large resort down to a short list.

It is small and it is meant to stay that way. Just 33 homesites, tucked away inside the resort and ringed by trees and preserved land - which is what keeps it private and what stops it growing. There is no phase two coming.

Barefoot Resort is one of the largest master-planned communities on the Grand Strand, and what makes it work is that ownership carries the whole resort with it. A home in Oak Pointe comes with playing access to three of the four courses - the Love, the Norman and the Fazio - along with the Residents Club, the marina, and an oceanfront cabana with shuttle service to the beach.

The Dye Club is the exception. It is the only semi-private facility at Barefoot Resort, and it is not included with the home - playing it means either holding a Dye Club membership or booking a tee time and paying to play.

Living at Barefoot Resort

The Barefoot Resort Yacht Club Marina sits on the Intracoastal Waterway with fishing supplies, boat rentals and the largest saltwater pool in the state. The Residents Club is separate from it and private to owners, with its own pool, a modern fitness center and tennis courts.

Golf is the reason many buyers look here first. Four courses carry the Love, Norman, Fazio and Dye names. Three of them come with the home. The Dye is the only semi-private facility at the resort, so it is not included - Dye Club membership brings it in, and otherwise it is a tee time like anywhere else. There are also more than 100 courses across the Grand Strand within a reasonable drive.

Barefoot Landing is minutes away with shops, restaurants and live music, and the beach itself is a short trip by car or on the seasonal shuttle.

Why Oak Pointe Stays Private

Oak Pointe does not sit on a golf course. That is unusual at Barefoot Resort and it is the whole point of the place - instead of a fairway behind the house there are trees, and instead of golfers going past there is nobody.

Most neighborhoods are private until the next section gets built. Oak Pointe is not one of them. It is bounded by preserved land, so the tree line behind the homes is permanent and the count does not go up.

That is a different proposition from a large neighborhood with a gate at the front. Thirty-three homesites means most owners know each other, traffic through the streets is residents only, and the resort's activity happens somewhere else.

It is also finished. All 33 homesites are built out, so nothing new is coming to market here - the only way into Oak Pointe is a resale, and with 33 homes there are not many of those in a given year.
