The Dye Townhomes at Barefoot Resort
The Dye Townhomes are among the largest attached homes in Barefoot Resort: four-story townhomes on Pete Dye Drive in North Myrtle Beach, named for the Pete Dye course though not built on it, with four bedrooms, a two-car garage and between 2,360 and 3,163 heated square feet, reached through a manned gate. At that size they compete with the detached houses in the resort, not with its condos, and they are built for people who arrive in numbers: a family, a golf group, or a rental owner who wants four bedrooms under one roof.
Ownership brings the whole of Barefoot with it: the private oceanfront beach cabana with its gated parking and seasonal shuttle to the beach, the deep water marina and the North Tower pool on the Intracoastal Waterway, the five-mile walkway around the property, and four championship golf courses at the door, including the Dye itself, the resort's semi-private course.
The Dye Townhomes Floor Plans and Prices
Every townhome at The Dye is four stories with a two-car garage on the ground level. The interior plan is four bedrooms and three and a half baths, between 2,360 and 2,712 heated square feet, with a screened porch on the lower level and a covered porch off the second-floor living area, and it sells between $510,000 and $555,000. Three full baths and a half for four bedrooms is what separates a townhome that sleeps eight comfortably from one that only says it does.
The end units are a different animal. At 3,163 heated square feet with four bedrooms and four and a half baths, they add a full bath, bringing the count to four and a half, and a third private outdoor living space: the rooftop terrace. The main living area and kitchen sit on the second floor above the garage, with the covered porch; the third floor holds the primary suite and two more bedrooms; the fourth has a bedroom and bath of its own; and above that the rooftop terrace deck, 14 by 23 feet, looks out over the resort. With the screened porch on the lower level, that makes three outdoor rooms on an end unit against two on an interior. For a golf group that wants a place to gather after a round, or a family with grown children who come and go, the end unit is the plan to wait for; they sell from $560,000 to over $600,000, and being end units there are fewer of them.

The HOA fee is $670 a month and covers the building insurance, pest control, security and trash, which for a four-bedroom townhome behind a manned gate with a two-car garage and the resort's amenities is closer to the fee at the walk-up condo communities than to the waterway buildings. The Dye Club at Barefoot Resort
The townhomes take their name from the Dye Club, the semi-private side of Barefoot Resort built around the Pete Dye course, and buyers here should understand how the two relate. A Dye Club membership is the one that opens everything at Barefoot: it covers the Dye and the other three championship courses, and the Dye clubhouse has private member areas, a four-star dining room and a fitness complex. It does not come with a townhome. Owning at The Dye Townhomes puts you a short cart ride from the club, but membership is a separate purchase, and a townhome that lists with a membership included should have the transfer confirmed in writing before closing.
For a golfer, that is the calculation: the townhome buys the bedrooms, the garage and the gate, and the membership buys the golf. For a family or a rental owner who plays a few rounds a year, the three public courses are a tee time away and the membership can wait.
